COMING AUGUST 2025

Chaos, Charity Whan's debut full-length poetry collection, is built like a southern rock ballad - honest, aching, and unapologetically human.  Through poems, prose, and original photography, Chaos explores infidelity, longing, grief, and the fierce journey of a woman who chose truth over performance.

Reviews

"

Knowing the author and her life story, this book is amazingly raw and heartfelt.  So eloquently written and dives into the depths of feelings we have all felt, I'm sure.  An inspiring journey and read.

This book is amazing, the poetry is oh my God heartfelt and joyful.  You can also feel the pain she felt as an adult too.

Absolutely love this.  The true pain, love and growth displayed in these words are so relatable and it gives you hope!

Charity Whan is a poet, writer, and prime example of what happens when you let intrusive thoughts win. In true millennial fashion, she peaked in the era of lifestyle blogging (RIP Curvy in Kansas City), took a detour into public service because poetry doesn’t pay student loans, and is now attempting a literary comeback—because if Taylor Swift can re-record her old stuff, why can’t she?

Despite once publishing a book (In Search of The Music Man—available wherever Amazon tolerates lazy indie poets), Charity has spent most of her creative life battling procrastination, existential dread, and the sneaking suspicion that she should have gone into STEM. Now, firmly entering her geriatric millennial era, she’s hoping that wisdom (or at least fewer bad decisions) will lead to actually finishing more books (about the bad decisions she's already made).

When trying not to overly romanticize her mid-life crisis through poetry, Charity can be found drinking Two Buck Chuck in her best friend's backyard, overanalyzing text messages, and letting her dog, Indy, gaslight her into extra treats. You can witness the chaos in real-time at @whanderwoman on Instagram, or subscribe to The Wild Beast Substack newsletter for new writing and sneak peeks at upcoming collections.
